Company Overview

Yesterday

Badger Fire Protection (formerly Figgie Fire Protection Systems) was formed in September, 1992 from the consolidation of ASCOA Fire Systems and Badger-Powhatan. Badger-Powhatan traces its origins back to the 19th century. In 1832 Powhatan Brass and Iron Works was established in Ranson, WV. The name was taken from the great Chief Powhatan, supreme leader of the confederation of early Algonquin tribes. Badger Fire Extinguisher Inc. also was formed before the turn of the 19th century and was granted Underwriter Laboratories Listing No. 2 in hand-held fire extinguishers in the 1890s. Badger and Powhatan became part of Figgie International in 1965, and were joined into a single operating unit in 1968. Badger is currently part of United Technology Coporation's Fire and Security Division.
